AUCHENTOSHAN AGED 10 YEARS ~ LOWLANDS, SCOTLAND
87/100 Whisky Base
John Hansell - The Whisky Advocate "Light, clean, and delicate on the palate, with creamy vanilla, marshmallow, soft fruit (lemon, lime), and a touch of honey throughout. Nicely balanced and uncomplicated. A whisky to appeal to both the malt and blend drinker."
Master of Malt "After a decade of maturation, this one has developed plenty of tasty fruit notes, pairing well with the spirit's classically grassy character."
A 10 year old single malt from the Lowland's very own Auchentoshan distillery, independently bottled by that Boutique-y Whisky Company.
Nose - Yellow plum and white grape, with wafts of lemongrass flowing through it.
Palate - Subtle baking spice warmth blends well with continued hints of greengage, mint and orange.
Finish - Nutmeg, soft sawdust salinity and green apple.
One of the few triple-distilled single malts in Scotland, in May of 2008, Auchentoshan went through a revamp; bottle labels were altered, the range was changed and the visitor centre was renovated. The origins of the distillery are quite shrouded, it originally started life under the name ‘Duntocher’, which was first mentioned around the turn of the nineteenth century.
