TALISKER PORT RUIGHE ~ ISLANDS, SCOTLAND
An early 2013 addition to Talisker's range, taking their classic Skye whisky and finishing it in ruby port casks, rounding the edges and bringing in rich, fruity sweetness.
Nose - Cinder toffee, chocolate, salted caramel, dried fruit and a hint of rose-water Turkish Delight.
Palate - Stewed raisins, sweet caramel and more of the gentle floral rosiness, with smoky burnt toffee.
Finish - Long and smoky, with the sweetness fading to reveal cocoa.
The oldest working distillery on the Isle of Skye, Talisker has enjoyed a long and very successful history. It has been the recipient of numerous accolades and medals from prestigious national and international competitions, and boasts an incredible core range that includes Talisker 10 Year Old, a gold medal winner at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017 and 'Best Islands Single Malt' at the 2017 World Whiskies Awards, as well as Talisker 18 Year Old, which won ‘Best Single Malt In The World' at the World Whiskies Awards 2007.
To celebrate the distillery’s 175th anniversary in 2005, a no age statement commemorative single malt bottling was released. Two years later in 2007, Talisker 18 year old won ‘Best Single Malt In The World 2007’ at the World Whiskies Awards. Since 2008, the range has vastly expanded with a no age statement quartet and even a 40 year old expression. Talisker is now one of Diageo’s most distinguished single malt brands.
