ARRAN AGED 10 YEARS ~ ISLANDS, SCOTLAND
Arran 10yo is a medium-bodied, citrussy dram that shows elegance and deftness of touch that belies the distillery's youth. Tasting the complexity and assurance of this youngster it is difficult to believe that the distillery only opened in 1995. A great achievement.
Nose - A very honest, naked dram. There are nice pineapple/pear sweetness, creamy malty notes and sugary biscuits. Vanilla custard. Light heathery / herbal touches. Aromatic honey. Round and pleasant.
Mouth - Sweet and fruity again, now with a bit more oak influence, fresh American oak. Melons, apples, orange candy. A green malty note. Vanilla. Honey. Indeed very much in line with the nose.
Finish - Quite long, on yellow apples, subtle leafy notes and oak spices.
Isle of Arran Distillers is one of the few remaining independent distilleries in Scotland. They are based at Lochranza on the Isle of Arran, one of the most beautiful and famous in Scotland which lies off the west coast between Ayrshire and Kintyre.
